Effort Logging - Is it worth the effort?

CSIRO Staff Association Secretary Sam Popovski has been talking to hundreds of members in CSIRO sites right around Australia over the last two months and has this to say:
“An Overwhelming message from staff is that they just want to get on and do their job. SAP and matrix management have introduced larger problems that we are fighting, but won’t be resolved overnight. Effort logging on the other hand can be fixed”

Letting you get on with the job
Over the last few months the CSIRO Staff Association has received constant feedback from members about the frustrations they feel when they are forced to compy with time consuming procedures that add little value to the organisation and which take them away from the science and research to which they are deeply committed.
Working towards a solution
Effort logging has been around for many years but has now evolved into a sham bookkeeping exercise. Members are frustrated by the time wasted on effort logging and are understandably uncomfortable when distortion of data is required to comply with it.
After Staff Association lobbying, CEO Megan Clarke has committed to a review of effort logging. This positive step would not have happened without member involvement.
Your participation is critical
In order for the Staff Association to keep the pressure on and get the best outcome from the review, we need you to have your say. A short electronic survey is now available at https://www.cpsusurveys.org.au/csiro.htm. The data will be compiled as we ramp up our campaign to resolve this issue once and for all.
